Lansing’s Uniform Dress Policy 2009-10

Dear Parent/Guardian,
Beginning fall 2009, Lansing Elementary will have a uniform dress policy.
During the 2008-09 school year we asked parents and staff about the idea of having a Uniform Dress Policy. Our parent committee, PALS, (People Advocating for Lansing Students) and accountability members approved having a uniform dress policy for our new school year. Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 5, and students will be expected to wear appropriate school attire.
Clothing choices are:
Ø Tops – solid colors: White, Light Blue, Dark Blue, or Maroon with collars. Polo style or button up button up blouse or dress shirt.
Ø Bottoms – Pants solid colors: Khaki, Blue, or Black. No jeans and no sweats.
Ø Capris, skirts, skorts, shorts, and jumpers – solid colors: Khaki, Blue, or Black, no jeans and not sweats. The length of skirts, skorts, and shorts should reach the finger-tips with arms hanging by the sides of his/her body.
Ø Shoes – appropriate shoes for physical education and no flip-flops or sandals with out a back strap.
Ø Students may wear any combination of the above, on any day of the week.
Ø Items may be purchased at any local store such as Kmart, Target, Wal-Mart, J.C. Penney’s, Old Navy, etc., or from any second-hand store as long as they are in good condition.
Clothing Regulations:
Ø No logos
Ø The 4 Bs: No belly, breast, back, or buttocks can be showing.
Ø All clothing needs to be size appropriate…No Sagging.
Ø All tops tucked in except sweatshirts. Sweatshirts must be White, Light Blue, Dark Blue, or Maroon. No hoodies will be allowed in the building.
It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure their child follows this uniform dress code. Students not dressed accordingly are expected to contact parents and change clothes.
Lansing is a professional place and we strive to maintain a friendly learning environment. We believe this uniform dress code policy will enhance our school community.
