Lansing Community Barbeque Kicksoff New School Year
At the 6th Annual Lansing Community Barbecue on August 2, faithful volunteers Doug and Jon Dunn cooked up 400 hot dogs to go along with chips, cookies, and a drink, all free to our Lansing community. The weather cooperated and allowed for families to get better acquainted with staff and other families. We are excited to have begun a new school year and look forward to increasing our family and community involvement with the goal of raising student achievement for all.

Lansing’s International Family Night 2010
What a great turnout we had on Friday night for our International Family Night! 89 parents signed in and 187 passports were given out to students.
Families enjoyed the opening and closing performances by Kusogea drummers and the Mudra Dance Studio. In between the performances there was more than enough food for everyone to sample and parents even brought in delicious homemade and store bought breads, desserts and candies.
Ms. Tallarico and Mr. Wilcox had a good crowd participate in the cultural trivia game using our Promethean Board technology, and Mrs. Collins kept students and parents busy with culture grams and cultural website activities. Our Lansing buy one get one free book fair was packed to overflowing.
Along the halls were opportunities to find out how to spell hello in different languages, and information on different cultures. It was a beautiful sight to see so many wearing their favorite cultural clothing.
Noodles & Company in Havana Gardens donated pan noodles and Pepsi donated the drinks for families. Senior Miguels and Hessini Roots provided tasty Mexican and African samples.
